Here is an oldie-but-goodie as we approach our nation’s 238th birthday anniversary. The first step in problem solving is to recognize that there is a problem. America is not the greatest country in the world anymore. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution—written over 230 years ago— are two of the greatest contributions to the modern world, but the opportunity and freedom that fueled generations of Americans is sharply declining by most measures. The United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Japan, and even Estonia (go ahead and find that on the map…I will wait) have more freedom and opportunity than America. Although we are 3rd in median household income, 4th in exports, and 7th in literacy, we are only 27th in math, 22nd in science, and 49th in life expectancy.
