Wine review: 2011 Santa Julia Malbec

image

According to the bottle, Santa Julia Malbec is “a full bodied, yet soft red wine made from sustainably grown grapes”. Whatever that means. The 2011 Santa Julia Malbec begins with pleasant aromas of plum, ripe fruit, a little spice and perfumed floral notes. The wine shows lots of blackberry and plum flavors with a silky texture and mouthfeel. The wine ends with a bit of spice along with lingering blackberry and chocolate notes that seem to go on for an incredibly long time. On top of all that the wine seems to get even better with some air as the spice becomes a bit more prominent. Excellent!
