Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix picks

Fabricio Werdum vs. Alistair Overeem
In 2006, Werdum subbed Overeem via kimura. That was a very different Overeem. I expect the result of this fight to be very different, with Overeem on top by KTFO in round one or lopsided decision.

Josh Barnett vs. Brett Rogers
Rogers has been away for too long to make this an exciting fight. Barnett is a surgeon, who dissects his opponents in often slow, plodding wins. Look for a long beatdown by Barnett.

K.J. Noons vs. Jorge Masvidal
If this fight stays a stand up, I give the edge to Noons. If Masvidal takes this to the ground, expect him to beat down Noons. Edge: Masvidal.

Daniel Cormier vs. Jeff Munson
Munson has been the punching bag for just about every up and coming fighter on the planet. Think of him as the guy on Star Trek in the red shirt. Cormier will wrestle Munson to a slow victory.

Valentijn Overeem vs. Chad Griggs
This Overeem has almost as many losses as wins at 29-25. Griggs will be the aggressor and add another loss to Overeem’s record.
