UFC 139: Rua vs Henderson
MAIN CARD PPV

* Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (20-5-0) vs. Dan “Hendo” Henderson (28-8-0). Rua: 2-inch reach advantage, muay thai, BJJ, 17 wins via KO, 5 loses 2 KO 2 submissions. 1 decision. Likes to use knees.

Henderson: Greco-Roman, wrestling (NCAA Division I), boxing, 13 wins via KO only 2 by submission. 8 losses, 3 via submission, 5 decisions. Hendo has been looking good lately. Shogun has been up and down, especially since getting crushed by Jon “Bones” Jones. I think Hendo’s Greco-Roman beats Shogun.

* “The California Kid” Urijah Faber (25-5-0) vs. Brian Bowles (10-1-0). The California Kid is still trying to find his niche in the UFC. He is no longer going to dominate his ring, but he should be able to escape with a decision.

* “The Axe Murderer” Walanderlei Silva (33-11-1, 1NC) vs. Cung Le (7-1-0). Le will try to back kick his way through this fight. Meanwhile, the Axe Murderer will out-cardio Le on the way to a vicious TKO.

* Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann (17-5-0) vs. Rick “The Horror” Story (13-4-0). The Hitman should take this one by SOTN.

* Stephan “The American Psycho” Bonnar (16-7-0) vs. Kyle “Kingsbu” Kingsbury (11-2-0, 1 NC). I do not see Kingbu getting out of the first round. The American Psycho wants to stay in the win column, and I think he will get it emphatically with KOTN.

PRELIMINARY CARD Spike

* Jason Brilz vs. Ryan Bader. Bader needs to improve the mixed part of his mixed martial arts game. Maybe he will eke out a boring win here.

* Michael McDonald vs. Alex Soto. Pick ‘em.

PRELIMINARY CARD Facebook

* Chris Weidman vs. Tom Lawlor

* Gleison Tibau vs. Rafael dos Anjos

* Nick Pace vs Miguel Torres (#6 ranked Bantamweight). Torres should get back to his winning ways here.

* Seth Baczynski vs. Matt Brown

* Danny Castillo vs. Shamar Bailey

Sent from my Motorola ATRIX™ 4G on AT&T

Here are my picks in UFC 132 on 2 July. I think the California Kid continues to climb up the bantam weight division with a win over Dominick Cruz. Chris Leben is a beast who should out-dumbass Wanderlei Silva to a win. Darth Bader will punch Tito Ortiz out with his neck muscles.

Urijah Faber over Dominick Cruz by decision.
Chris Leben TKO Wanderlei Silva
Ryan Darth Bader TKO Tito Ortiz
Carlos Condit over Dong Hyun Kim
Dennis Siver over Matt Wiman
Melvin Guillard KTFO Shane Roller
George Sotiropoulos over Rafael dos Anjos
Brian Bowles TKO Takeya Mizugaki
Brad Tavares vs. Aaron Simpson
Anthony Njokuani over Andre Winner

UFC 128: Rua versus Jones

Champ Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Jon “Bones” Jones
Light Heavyweight 186 to 205 lbs (84 to 93 kg)

Bones Jones has the widest wingspan in all of MMA. The man can tie his own shoelaces without kneeling down. Look for Bones to bash Shogun’s face in from the other side of cage. FOTN.

Urijah “The California Kid” Faber vs. Eddie “Too cool to have a nickname” Wineland
Bantamweight 126 to 135 lb (57 to 61 kg)

The California Kid moved down from Backstreet Boy Weight Class to Justin Bieber Weight Class last year and scored a RNC in WEC 52 over some Japanese midget. Now the California Kid has to fight a real cage fighter in MMA, a diminutive firefighter from the Jersey Shore named Eddie Wineland. I don’t know which I hate more, California or New Jersey, but I will root for the California Kid as long as he does not show up to the fight with his hair done up like he is going to the 8th grade sock hop.

Faber takes this one then goes on to coach TUF opposite WEC Bantamweight Champ Dominick Cruz.

Dan “Dead meat fill-in for Sexyama” Miller vs. Nate “the Great” Marquardt

Middleweight 171 to 185 lb (78 to 84 kg)

Who is Dan Miller? Who cares? He is about to get his face rearranged by an angry Nate the Great who wanted a piece of Sexyama (Who doesn’t? No homo.). Nate needs this win to get back atop the MW class where he belongs. Look for him to make up for the egg he dropped in Germany’s UFC 122 with a demolition with extreme prejudice. KOTN.

Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic vs. Brendan Schaub

Heavyweight: 206 to 265 lb (93 to 120 kg)

This could be a boring fight. Everyone knows that Cro Cop wants to throw that head kick that gained him fame in PrideFC. Everyone knows that Brendan just likes to throw knockout punches. Meh. I’ll pick Schaub, just because he is younger and faster…well, faster as fat heavyweights go, which is only marginally faster than the speed at which old people ****.

Jim Miller vs. Kamal Shalorus

Lightweight: 146 to 155 lb (66 to 70 kg)

I refuse to root for a fighter named “Kamal” or “Camel”, especially since the guy likes to kick dudes in the groin. He could have defeated Jamie Varner if it weren’t for the kicks to the gonads causing him to lose points and force the WEC 49 fight to end in a draw. Jim Miller’s only losses have come against Gray Maynard and Frankie Edgar, so I expect him to put up a good fight against the Prince of Persia.

Here is the “everybody else that I plan on being drunk and will miss” divisions. Who cares which division they fight in or who will win. Just make it interesting. I am tired of no-contests and draws.

Luiz Cane vs. Eliot Marshall
Edson Barboza vs. Anthony Njokuani
Ricardo Almeida vs. Mike Pyle
Kurt Pellegrino vs. Gleison Tibau – Pelligrino might put up a good fight
Joseph Benavidez vs. Ian Loveland – If the wine hasn’t dragged me to Bolivian, maybe I will root for Benavidez
Raphael Assuncao vs. Erik Koch
Nick Catone vs. Constantinos Phillipou
