Tabbouleh (Arabic: تبولة‎ tabūlah) is a Levantine Arab salad traditionally made of bulgur, tomatoes, finely chopped parsley, mint, onion and garlic, and seasoned with olive oil, and lemon juice. A gyro is a dish of meat roasted on a vertical spit. It is also commonly served in a sandwich, called pita gyro or psomaki gyro depending on the type of bread used, with tomato, onion, french fries and optional sauce, wrapped in pita or sandwich bread. Kebabs are skewered meat, fire grilled with vegetables. Not bad for fast food Greek. 4/5 stars.

Nazalie’s Lebanese Cafe. Come for the food, but stay for the conversation. I spent half my time here chatting with Jack and Nazalie, the owners of the restaurant. Very friendly people. Be sure to try the jallab drink (made from carob, dates, grape molasses and rose water, then smoked with Arabic incense and served with crushed ice, floating pine nuts and raisins) and some baklava, homemade of course.

Mmmmmm. Zorba’s Mediterranean Grill has the best baklava in San Antonio, and it’s kosher!

Pasha Mediterranean Grill lamb kebab is a succulent lamb atop soft, buttery rice. Full of flavor. 5/5 stars.

Usually I get the chicken shawarma, but I had a craving for lamb today. The lamb gyro is awesome! 5/5 stars.

As long as you avoid the elderly belly dancer, Mina & Dimi’s Greek is among the best in San Antonio for gyros and baklava. The baklava is soaked in honey, and they have different varieties to try out. 5/5 stars. Next time I need to try the kadaifi.
